FOOD AND RESTAURANTS: The Concept of Spontaneous Dining for RESTAURANT 8 1/2 evolved from the desire to give patrons, especially those who may frequent the establishment, a unique and ever changing dining experience. Through their combined forty plus years in the hospitality industry, Executive Chef Jason McClain and his business partner, General Manager Kevin Boals have themselves grown weary of the traditional starter/entrée/dessert style of dining, and wanted to offer their guests something different.
Spontaneous Dining allows guests to create their own four or five course TASTING MENUS from any combination of menu items at 8 ½ (by definition, a tasting menu consists of multiple courses of smaller portions). Accompanying WINE FLIGHTS – 3 oz. portions of paired wines for each menu selection – further enhance the dining experience.
Guests lacking a sense of spontaneity may, of course, choose to have a more traditional style dinner from the myriad of untraditional items showcasing Chef Jason's CREATIVE GLOBAL CUISINE , including MEDITERRANEAN LAMB CARPACCIO with hummus and zatar pita chips; MOROCCAN SPICED CALAMARI with broccoli rabe and meyer lemon brown butter; FLORIDA DAY BOAT GROUPER with sweet corn fava bean grits, wild mushroom bouillon and truffle essence, and; PEPPERED BEEF TENDERLION with lobster mashed potatoes, asparagus and pinot noir sauce.
